LANDING AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

Ak-Chin Regional Airport was first identified as Phoenix Regional Airport when it was constructed in 1999. At the time, it was conceived as a private residential airport with plans for surrounding mixed use development that included a lake, commercial and industrial projects. It encompassed an area of approximately 406 acres, of which 270 acres were defined as the airport footprint. Recognizing the airport could be a significant economic generator far beyond its borders, the Ak-Chin Indian Community purchased the airport in 2006.

PUTTING AK-CHIN ON THE MAP

Ak-Chin Regional Airport is a publicly-owned public-use airport located in the Santa Cruz Valley of Southern Arizona, approximately 44 miles southeast of Phoenix and 82 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona. Currently, it is within the jurisdiction of unincorporated Pinal County on non-trust land just outside the boundary of the Ak-Chin Indian Community between the cities of Maricopa and Casa Grande. However, the airport and surrounding property is part of a fee-to-trust process, which will make it part of Ak-Chin’s reservation. (Get driving directions to the Terminal.) With continual investments in facility improvements, the airport is poised to launch new opportunities.
